Reasons to delay

(2 min read) Three key things you can learn from what worked (and didn’t work) for my Creator community launch

OK Avi, you said you were launching a community in January. It’s February. Why haven’t you launched??

It’s taken a few weeks longer than expected, and I’m going to explain why below.

If you want to skip my rambling and join The $100k Creators Club immediately, here you go - and make sure to use the code CREATORLOGIC for 30% off:

Our first guest, this Friday, is Justin Moore of Creator Wizard! We’ll be talking through specific tactics you can use to get brand deals even if you haven’t done much brand work in the past.

There are 3 reasons I delayed launching until this week:

Platform Challenges

I initially picked a community platform based on its big, powerful features.

What I didn’t take into account was that big, powerful platforms often end up being complex on the backend - and for a solopreneur doing setup myself, that was a problem.

I spent weeks trying to set up the membership, but had quite a few challenges that slowed me down. The last straw was spending 3 hours failing at setting up a paid plan with all the benefits I wanted to offer. It was just too complex to do myself while maintaining my sanity.

Pricing Challenges

I knew I wanted to offer a premium membership at around $99 a month - high enough that members are committed to growing their businesses, and low enough that every member can achieve a significant ROI on their investment (if you get one deal or launch one product from what you learn, you’ve made your money back).

What I didn’t take into account was Apple.

The platform I was planning to use has an app that drives significant subscriptions, and as a result, I’d lose 15%-30% of my revenue to the “Apple tax”. There’s no way around it - Apple won’t approve in-app purchases if you tell people to leave the app and purchase on a browser.

The solution would be to charge more for Apple subscriptions, but I hate that. That means that YOU, dear reader, would be paying a 30% premium simply because you have an iPhone.

I agonized over this decision for a long time and spoke to a few different people to get feedback. Ultimately, I chose to pick a different platform that isn’t app-based.

Life Happens

The final reason I took forever to launch is simply…life. The LA fires shut down our daycare and put my wife into overtime at work. My daughter got influenza and had to be home for a week and a half. I got sick myself and couldn’t stay focused even when I did have some alone time to work.

That’s life.

The beauty of being a Creator is that you have flexibility - but that’s also the challenge. When life happens, you don’t get paid time-off. Even as I was mourning my city, playing daddy daycare, and hacking up a lung - I was acutely aware of how much I had left to do to get this community off the ground…and slowly, slowly, I’ve moved it forward.

Now what?

In 2023, Nuseir Yassin - aka megacreator Nas from Nas Daily - launched Nas.io, a membership platform to compete with Patreon.

I remember being so impressed by the speed and simplicity of the demo - he set up an entire membership in 5 minutes - that I messaged him about it:

After that frustrating 3-hour episode where I failed to set up my payment plan, I went to the Nas.io website and signed up on a whim…and lo and behold, within 30 minutes I had the entire membership live.

As a result, I’m using Nas.io, a member platform by and for Creators, to power The $100k Creators Club!

Since Nas.io has a very different feature set, my offering has changed a bit:

  • Chat - We’ll have a members-only WhatsApp group, where members can ask questions, share learnings, and benefit from the experiences of smart, driven peers also working towards $100k in annual income. These kinds of group chats are extremely high-ROI!

  • Feed - Our group message board will be where we’ll memorialize the most useful information that surfaces in the chat, as well as recordings of past live sessions and guests (more on that below).

  • Live Sessions - Office hours, group mentoring, and virtual networking sessions - we’ll meet at least once a week to check progress and learn from the group.

  • Challenges - At least once a month, we’ll run monetization challenges. This is a great way to move your business forward in sprints - by committing to get stuff done along with your peers. Group accountability works!

  • Guest Speakers - I’m going to leverage the heck out of my network to get Creators, executives, and experts you’d never otherwise run into. These won’t be fluffy sessions about following your dreams - they’ll be ultra tactical, so you can learn exactly how people are making money and what to apply to your business.

If you put in the work, there’s no reason you can’t get a 100x ROI out of your investment in The $100k Creators Club. $99 a month is not a lot when your goal is $10,000 a month.

Imagine this time next year:

  • You’ve hit six figures. You’ve crossed the $100k mark with support from a community of Creators who have your back.

  • You’ve achieved financial clarity. Your income supports your goals—whether it’s saving for a home or leaving a job you hate.

  • You’ve built your dream creative life. Your work is fulfilling, respected, and finally earning what it’s worth.

It’s not just a vision—we’ll make it happen together.

Ready to become a $100k Creator? Creator Logic readers can use code CREATORLOGIC for 30% off forever, but since you read this far, I’ll offer you something special:

Use the code FOUNDINGMEMBER to get 50% off membership forever.

There are only 100 of these available through February and then they’ll be gone forever, so act now!
