Beehiiv’s new creator tools are focused on audience ownership

Last week, newsletter startup Beehiiv hosted its first-ever Winter Release Event. The platform launched 10 new tools and features for newsletter creators, from digital product features to podcasting and link-in-bio tools. (disclaimer: this newsletter is powered by Beehiiv)

“What makes newsletters so powerful is ownership, owning your audience, distribution, brand, and even your revenue potential,” said Beehiiv CEO and co-founder Tyler Denk. “In the age of AI and algorithms, ownership isn't just a nice-to-have; it's essential.”

What does this mean for creators?

Beehiiv prioritizes giving its creators full ownership of their businesses. These new updates come with the ability to monetize without platform fees.

Founded in 2021, it is the only major newsletter service with zero fees on subscriptions and digital product sales, the company said. As of July 2025, the platform has sent over 35 billion emails, and more than 55,000 publishers and creators are active on the platform.

On Thursday, Beehiiv CEO and co-founder Tyler Denk announced new updates at the company’s 2025 Winter Release Event.

These are the new features, and why they matter for creators:

  1. Digital products: earn revenue from your audience without using a separate platform.

  2. AI website builder: create a website without needing additional coding or design skills.

  3. Native podcast integration: showcase your podcast directly on your site.

  4. Website analytics: real-time insights on engagement and traffic.

  5. Link in bio: a mobile hub for linking to all your channels.

  6. Professional templates: customizable website and newsletter designs.

  7. Dynamic content: personalize newsletter content by audience for higher engagement and more direct monetization.

  8. Advanced automations: automated segmentation triggers and welcome sequences.

  9. Ad Network enhancements: new advertiser tools and ad marketplace.

  10. Paid subscriptions: zero fees for tiered subscription options and recurring revenue.

Beehiiv has raised $49.7 million in venture funding to date, including a $33 million Series B round in April 2024 backed by NEA, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Sapphire Ventures.

“For years, the conversation has centered on the creator economy, but the future belongs to the content economy: brands, journalists, publishers, and independent creators building owned media businesses with direct relationships to their audiences,” the company said.

TikTok is officially rolling out Bulletin Board, a new in-app space that lets creators chat, share, and post updates directly to their fans. Think of it like a creator’s digital corkboard, a place to pin whatever they want their community to see first.

With Bulletin Board, creators can drop quick updates, share exclusive behind-the-scenes moments, tease new projects, or even promote tour tickets and music. It’s designed to help creators build lively, engaged communities right inside the app. The feature is launching for creators who are at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 50,000 followers.

Artists and musicians get an extra boost, too. They can share tracks, album drops, or pre-saves directly to their followers. Fans can then instantly save the music to their favorite streaming app using TikTok’s “Add to Music App” feature. This is just one way for artists to get new songs into fans’ playlists and build hype.

Instagram sent out a guide to building community on Threads.

Here’s what the platform says creators can do to drive engagement:

Go behind the scenes. Take your followers through your creative process, and add a photo carousel to help with the details.

Jump in on a trending conversation. Read a book that you love and want to talk about? Have hot takes on a show that people are talking about? Share your thoughts and see what other people have to say.

Start an AMA (Ask Me Anything). Engage with your audience and form deeper connections through open question and answer. Pro-tip! If a thread is getting a ton of engagement like comments, pin it to your profile for high visibility!

Spotlight before-and-afters. Transformations can inspire your followers to start their own journey. A personal or home makeover humanizes you, gives you an opportunity to be relatable and offers conversation starters to your audience.

Resurface conversations. Don’t forget to hop in other conversations! Replies account for almost half the views on Threads! Comment on and repost other threads to build community.

The guide also included a few questions for creators to ask themselves, including:

  • What are some ways you engage with your followers now? What new tactics have you learned about that you can start doing to include your community in the conversation?

  • How will you use your insights on Threads to create more engaging content? What is your focus or main goal?
